UAE Youth tied with its Bahraini counterpart in the opening of the International Handball Championship

DUBAI, 27 JUNE / WAM / The UAE Youth Handball Team began its participation in the UAE International Youth Championship with a 35-35 draw with its Bahraini counterpart, at the opening of the tournament competitions that began today, at the Shabab Al Ahli Club Hall in Al Mamzar, and will continue until the first of next July.
Four teams are participating in the tournament: the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman, as part of the programs to prepare the teams for the upcoming continental competitions.
The first round also witnessed the victory of the Qatari team over its Omani counterpart with a score of 34-21.
The opening of the tournament and the first day’s competitions were attended by His Excellency Saud Ibrahim Saleh, President of the UAE Handball Federation, and members of the Federation’s Board of Directors, along with a number of members of the boards of directors of the participating federations.
Saud Ibrahim welcomed the participating delegations and teams, stressing that the tournament represents an important preparation station for the Gulf teams, and contributes to strengthening cooperation between the federations, in addition to raising technical readiness before the upcoming competitions.
The second round competitions will be held tomorrow, where the UAE national team will meet its Qatari counterpart, while the Bahraini national team will face the Sultanate of Oman national team.
