France records about a thousand additional deaths since the heat wave… and warnings of the death toll rising

Since Wednesday, a number of deaths have been recorded in France, about a thousand more than the usual level, according to what the National Public Health Agency announced on Sunday, warning that the toll may be much higher even if the extreme heat wave begins to subside.

A statement by the Public Health Agency in France stated that: "Since June 24, about a thousand additional deaths have been recorded compared to the cases counted in the previous months."Noting that these numbers are not final and that this phenomenon especially affects those over sixty-five, and that deaths in homes alone have increased by 40 percent.
