The Saudi Food and Drug Authority issued strict regulatory requirements for registering public health pesticides, both regular and low-risk, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The step aims to ensure the safety and effectiveness of Local products and imported through the unified electronic system “Ghad”.

The authority obligated all companies and establishments to comply with the new registration requirements that are based on the executive regulations of the pesticide system law in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
It stressed the necessity of creating active accounts in the Pesticide registration according to the commercial registry of each facility.

Licenses and certificates

The requirements stressed the provision of approved contractual licenses in the event that the manufacturer differs from the company that owns the pesticide, in addition to official letters of authorization for imported products.

The regulations required the submission of certificates proving the registration and use of the pesticide in the country of origin, or proof of its natural or biological origin.

And in a regulatory exception For products designated for export only, the Authority required the submission of documents indicating that the pesticide was registered in at least two countries of the European Union, Japan, the United States of America, or Canada.

Comprehensive analyzes and toxicological studies

It obligated the suppliers to provide comprehensive certificates of analysis for the components of the pesticide and its pH from neutral laboratories classified internationally according to the “ISO 17025” certificate to ensure quality.

It was imposed Regulations on public health pesticide products: Providing detailed toxicological studies of the final product from accredited laboratories, including measuring the effects of inhalation and skin and eye irritation.

It also requested the attachment of evaluation studies denying the presence of carcinogenic or negative health effects of the active ingredients, while proving the effectiveness of the pesticide on the targeted pests.

The authority clarified that low-risk public health pesticides are subject to registration requirements consistent with their nature, with a focus on technical bulletins that show the composition of the substance, its specifications, and the method. Extracting it.

The regulations granted companies the right to apply to update and renew the pesticide’s registration starting from the fourth year of the validity of the first registration certificate.
