A massive forest fire in France forces residents to evacuate… and rescue efforts continue

A massive forest fire broke out in southern France, forcing Firefighters were deployed to fight the fire in the Iro and Oud regions, while the authorities used firefighting aircraft due to the difficulty of reaching the areas where the fire broke out in the rugged terrain.
According to the administration of the Oud region, until the evening hours, the fire destroyed about 800 hectares of land, while the authorities explained that the fire was surrounded in some areas, but was not completely under control.
High heat and drought
The temperatures, which reached about 30 degrees Celsius, along with strong winds And the severe drought of the vegetation, the speed of the spread of the fire.
The authorities announced the evacuation of a number of residents, while others were asked to remain inside their homes for their safety, bringing the total number of those affected by these measures to about 200 people in the towns of Beauzol-Minervoix and Mayac.
Fire teams reported the outbreak of two other limited-scale fires in the regions of Reniac and Lançon-Provence, near the city of Marseille.
The outbreak of these fires comes after a year of widespread fires in the Corbières region, following a severe heat wave that swept large parts of Europe, amid expectations that temperatures will continue to rise in the coming days.
