The Abu Dhabi Quality Policy Committee discusses enhancing the emirate’s competitiveness and supporting sustainable development

ABU DHABI, 7 JULY / WAM / During its meeting, the Abu Dhabi Quality Policy Committee discussed ways to enhance the competitiveness of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and support sustainable development, in line with the vision of the Abu Dhabi government aimed at consolidating the emirate’s position among the best cities in the world in terms of quality of life, innovation and economic competitiveness, enabling industrial sectors and advanced technology to access global markets efficiently and reliably, and building a competitive economy based on quality, sustainability and knowledge.
The committee reviewed developments in the implementation of the Abu Dhabi Quality Policy, which was launched by the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council in early 2026, to build an integrated system of quality infrastructure that includes specifications, standards, accreditation, conformity, inspection and calibration, in a way that enhances the efficiency of the economic and service sectors, raises levels of competitiveness and productivity, and establishes the highest standards of quality, safety and reliability in products and services within the emirate and its exports.
The meeting also discussed mechanisms for coordination and integration between the concerned authorities, joint roles and responsibilities, performance indicators and follow-up plans, to ensure the achievement of the policy objectives efficiently and effectively.
Participants from government agencies, private sector institutions, and strategic partners stressed that the policy represents a pioneering model for developing quality infrastructure, and supports the implementation of national strategies related to the economy, industry, advanced technology, and sustainability, as well as its role in enhancing the country’s economic position, consolidating its presence in global supply chains, raising the competitiveness of its products and services, and supporting sustainable economic growth.
The meeting stressed the importance of continuing cooperation between government agencies, the private sector and strategic partners to ensure the effective implementation of the policy, which contributes to supporting sustainable economic and social development, improving the quality of life, and enhancing Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s global leadership in quality, innovation and institutional excellence.
Abu Dhabi Quality Policy provides a strategic framework that supports the emirate’s development goals by enhancing the reliability of systems and services, raising the efficiency of value chains and production, stimulating innovation and continuous development in various vital sectors, in addition to enhancing investor confidence, attracting quality investments, and raising the readiness of economic sectors to keep pace with global changes, which is reflected in improving the quality of products and services, raising the efficiency of government and private services, and supporting community well-being and quality of life.
His Excellency Engineer Fahd Gharib Al Shamsi, Acting Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Quality Council, stressed that the policy represents a qualitative leap in the comprehensive development process, and contributes to building an advanced quality system that supports sustainable economic growth, enhances the competitiveness of sectors, stimulates innovation, and establishes confidence in products and services, pointing out that it embodies a future vision to unify efforts between government and private agencies in a way that enhances the position of Abu Dhabi and the UAE in indicators of quality, institutional excellence, and global competitiveness.
For his part, His Excellency Engineer Abdullah Hassan Al-Muaini, Executive Director of the Central Inspection Laboratory and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Quality Policy Committee, said that the committee continues, in cooperation with strategic partners, to follow up on the implementation of the policy in accordance with international best practices, stressing that its success depends on institutional integration and effective partnership, and that it constitutes an integrated road map for developing quality infrastructure, enhancing the efficiency of technical and supervisory systems, supporting innovation and operational excellence, and achieving sustainable added value for the national economy and economic and social development.
