The fire comes at a time when Spain is suffering from a heat wave, as high temperatures have led to the issuance of warnings, some of which are specific to areas in Andalusia, in recent days.

Spain has witnessed repeated heat waves in recent years in which temperatures sometimes exceeded 40 degrees Celsius, creating favorable conditions for the outbreak of huge forest fires.

According to the European Forest Fire Information System, areas of more than 40 degrees Celsius have burned. 393 thousand hectares in Spain in 2025, making it the worst year in terms of forest fires in the country’s modern history.
