Ali Al Nuaimi discusses with the Chairman of the Security Committee of the Malaysian Parliament the strengthening of parliamentary cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, July 10, 2017 (WAM) – During their meeting in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee in the Federal National Council, discussed with His Excellency Datuk Jonathan Bin Yassin, Chairman of the Special Committee on Security Affairs in the Malaysian Parliament, ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation, especially in the areas of work and jurisdiction of the two committees.

The meeting, which was attended by His Excellency Dr. Mubarak Saeed Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to the Federal Kingdom of Malaysia, also discussed coordination and joint cooperation mechanisms between the two councils during participation in regional and international parliamentary activities, and ways to activate cooperation and exchange parliamentary and legislative experiences in areas of priority for both sides.

The meeting discussed developments in the Asian continent, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of common interest, stressing that the strategic bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Federal Kingdom of Malaysia constitute an important pillar for strengthening parliamentary cooperation, in a way that supports security and stability efforts.

The two sides stressed that the rapid transformations the world is witnessing require strengthening joint parliamentary action and activating the role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting national and international policies aimed at combating terrorism and extremism, addressing cross-border challenges, reducing hate speech, and spreading a culture of moderation and dialogue.
