Lack of supervision over children near swimming areas may lead to tragic drowning accidents

The Department of Women and Child Protection in the General Department of Human Rights in Dubai Police stressed the importance of direct and continuous supervision of children while they are near swimming pools or beaches during the summer vacation, which witnesses an increase in demand for water activities, stressing that the absence of supervision, even for a moment, may lead to tragic drowning accidents.
The Department of Women and Child Protection called on parents not to leave children alone in or near swimming pools or beaches, and not to rely solely on the presence of lifeguards or use flotation devices as an alternative to direct supervision, with the necessity of choosing safe swimming places and adhering to warning instructions and guidelines.
She explained that children may drown silently within a few seconds, without those around them being able to notice it, which requires an adult to remain near them throughout the time they are in the water, stressing that prevention always begins with awareness and adherence to safety procedures, wishing the families a happy vacation.
