A shocking surprise.. The doctor for the Senegal team in the World Cup is an “obstetrician and gynecologist”

The President of the Senegalese Football Federation, Abdoulaye Fall, revealed exciting details that faced the Senegalese team, the “Lions of Teranga”, during the recent period, which had an impact on its results in the 2026 World Cup and the team’s failure to qualify for the round of 16 in the World Cup.
Abdullah Fall said yesterday, Monday, that the national team doctor specializes in obstetrics and gynecology, and not in sports medicine, which means that he lacks the specialized background necessary to support the team during the FIFA World Cup in North America, at a time when the federation is evaluating a disappointing march in the tournament.
Val explained in a press conference that the team doctor “trained to become a gynecologist,” noting that this issue was discovered late and raised the players’ concern about the level of medical support available.
“Based on the reports I received, the players were not reassured enough about receiving care from him,” Fall added. He added that the federation sought to seek additional medical expertise to reassure the team.
Val continued, “We had to create a convincing experience so that they would feel reassured, because health comes before everything else.”
For its part, the Senegalese Society of Sports Medicine, in a statement issued late Monday, rejected these allegations, describing them as “unfounded and considered defamation.”
The association stated that the team doctor, Abderrahmane Fedor, holds a specialized diploma in sports medicine and sports biology from the Faculty of Medicine at Cheikh Anta Diop University.
She added that he previously headed the physical therapy department at Van Hospital, and has been a doctor for the Senegal national team since 2017, and has been with the team since then in three World Cup tournaments and five African Cup of Nations tournaments.
Senegal sacked coach Pape Thiaw on Saturday, stating that its results in the World Cup necessitated a change.
Senegal was hoping to compete strongly in the World Cup, after reaching the final of the African Cup of Nations in January, but it presented a disappointing tournament.
Senegal lost the first two matches in the group stage to France and Norway, and gave up a 2-0 lead five minutes before the end of its match against Belgium in the round of 32, before losing 3-2 after extra time.
