Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan revealed the details of a serious health crisis he suffered before the 2026 World Cup, confirming that he underwent a cardiac catheterization and the installation of three stents, amid strict secrecy about the matter at the time.

Hossam Hassan said in a television interview with the journalist Mona El Shazly about his health suffering, and said: “I had two operations and a catheterization, and three stents were installed during the recent period. I was ignoring the criticism and pretending that I did not see it, but the truth was that I was following it all, and there were those who doubted my artistic abilities.

He added: “It is said that I compliment the players, but the truth is that I put God first. “I like constructive criticism and benefit from it, but what happened was a direct accusation that I do not understand anything about football.”
