Dubai officials: Union Era Day embodies the vision of the founders and enhances the process of development and unity
DUBAI, 17th July, 2017 (WAM) – Officials in government institutions in Dubai have confirmed that Union Era Day represents a pivotal national milestone that embodies the historical vision of the Founding Fathers who laid the foundations of the Union and laid the foundations of the modern state, stressing that this occasion renews the commitment to continuing the development process, consolidating the values of unity and joint work, and building a more prosperous and pioneering future under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, “may God protect him,” and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. “May God protect him.”
His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, said that the day of the era of the Union represents a turning point in the history of the state. On July 18, 1971, the Founding Fathers established an exceptional civilizational project that made the Union a pillar of stability, the human being a focus of development, and knowledge a basis for building the future, in a step that embodied a long-term vision that established a pioneering development model to be emulated globally.
He added that the responsibility of national institutions today is to preserve the legacy of the Union and consolidate its values in the awareness of generations by preserving the national memory, documenting the path of the founding fathers, and promoting the principles of unity, cohesion, and faith in humanity, stressing that the Mohammed bin Rashid Library renews its commitment to continuing its mission of introducing generations to this historical moment and building bridges linking the past to the present and the future in a way that strengthens national identity and instills the values of work and giving.
For his part, His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, Director General of Digital Dubai, stressed that the Union’s Era Day represents an immortal national occasion in which we remember the historical moment in which the founding fathers came together to establish a country based on unity, belief in humanity, joint work, and a long-term vision, pointing out that the Union was not only a political choice, but rather a renewed civilizational project that grows stronger with every achievement achieved by the UAE.
He explained that the UAE, under its wise leadership, continues to build on the legacy of the Union with a vision that anticipates the future and is based on knowledge, innovation and advanced technology, thus enhancing its position as a global model in development, readiness and competitiveness, stressing that developing a more integrated and efficient government and employing technology and data to serve humanity and enhance the quality of life represents an extension of the values established by the founding fathers.
His Excellency Khalfan Juma Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, said that the Union Era Day proudly recalls the forward-looking vision of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, and their fellow rulers, may God have mercy on them, who met on July 18, 1971, to sign the Union Document and the State Constitution and adopt the official name of the United Arab Emirates.
He added that this vision has turned into a reality over the course of fifty-five years, making the UAE a global model in strategic planning and shaping the future, stressing that this occasion will remain a shining station that laid the foundations of the United House and consolidated the unity of purpose, clarity of vision and strength of determination, calling for continuing to work with the values that created the union and continuing to design the future of the country and create it hand in hand.
His Excellency Omar Hamad Bushahab, Director General of the Dubai Land Department, stressed that the Union Day embodies the values on which the state was founded and renews the meanings of loyalty and belonging to the homeland, pointing out that the achievements achieved by the UAE were the result of the approach of the wise leadership that believed in the importance of building human beings and investing in them and made unity a starting point towards sustainable development and prosperity.
He added that the Dubai Land Department renews its pledge to continue developing an innovative and sustainable real estate system that contributes to raising Dubai’s competitiveness and strengthening its position as a global destination for real estate investment, in line with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Dubai Real Estate Strategy 2033, in a way that supports economic growth, improves the quality of life, and enhances the emirate’s position as a global center for creating opportunities and anticipating the future.
His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, CEO of the Mohammed bin Rashid College of Government, affirmed that the Union Era Day embodies the era that united the will and transformed the vision into a state and the ambition into a sustainable civilizational project, pointing out that the Emirati experience has proven that the Union was not only a political achievement, but rather an integrated development model that established a state characterized by efficiency, flexibility and proactiveness.
He added that, on this national occasion, the college renews its commitment to preparing government leaders capable of leading government transformation, making public policies, and promoting a culture of innovation and excellence in a way that supports the country’s priorities and consolidates the UAE’s position as a global model in development, leadership, and shaping the future. He stressed that the Union’s Covenant Day represents a renewal of the pledge to preserve the national achievement and continue building on the solid foundations laid by the founding fathers and entrench the values of the Union in the souls of generations.
