The National Program for Development of the Statistical System allows for more accurate measurement of new growth sectors

The Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, said that the approval of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” of the national program for developing the statistical system, reflects the maturity and confidence of the national statistical system, explaining that comprehensive reviews are a practice adopted by advanced statistical systems as economies develop and data sources expand.
Abdullah bin Touq noted in a statement that the program will allow for a more accurate measurement of the new growth sectors, from the digital economy and services to tourism and investment, in a way that reflects the true size and diversity of the national economy, and gives investors and international institutions a more transparent and comparable statistical base.
Abdullah bin Touq added that the program establishes a new phase of joint work and integration between various national bodies, and supports the country’s efforts to shift towards an economic model based on knowledge and innovation, and develop proactive economic policies and strategies based on accurate statistics, in a way that supports economic decision-making and future planning and unifies methodologies for statistical work in the country, and enhances the sustainability of the development of the national statistical system and its keeping pace with rapid economic transformations, thus consolidating the UAE’s presence in global competitiveness indicators.
