Ukraine’s membership in NATO will not be acceptable to Russia

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Tuesday that Ukraine’s joining NATO would not be acceptable to Russia.
The Ukrainian newspaper “Yevrobyskaya Pravda” said that the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the only real security guarantee for Ukraine, and the deterrent to further Russian aggression against it and other countries, is Ukraine’s full membership in NATO, according to what the Russian Sputnik news agency reported.

In response to a question from journalists about how the Kremlin could comment on these statements, Peskov said: “This completely contradicts our thesis about the indivisibility of security, and the security of one state cannot be guaranteed at the expense of the security of another state. This is an established rule in international relations that we are guided by.” .
Peskov added: “The decision is simply unacceptable to us, because it is a threat to us. This does not eliminate the root causes of what is happening now, which prompted us to launch a special military operation.”
Peskov pointed out that the administration of US President Joe Biden continues to add fuel to the fire and is trying to prevent the war in Ukraine from slowing down.
Peskov commented on the new US aid package for Ukraine, saying: “The current administration (in Washington) is pursuing its goals, its consistent line of not allowing this war to slow down, and is doing everything it can to continue adding fuel to the fire.”
