Escalating tensions.. China imposes restrictions on metal exports to America

China escalated trade tensions with the United States by imposing a ban on the export of many raw materials used in technology and weapons, in response to the decision of the government of US President Joe Biden to impose restrictions on the export of advanced technology to China.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced in a statement on Tuesday that it had been decided to ban the export of gallium, germanium, antimony and very hard materials to the United States, adding that Beijing would also impose stricter controls on graphite sales.
Bloomberg News Agency indicated that the minerals whose export is to be banned are used in various fields of technological industries, ranging from semiconductors to satellites and night vision devices.

China’s exports to America

At the same time, China’s exports of these minerals to the United States have actually declined after restrictions were imposed on their export last year.
China’s decision came after the White House announced yesterday imposing new restrictions on the sale of high-bandwidth memory chips manufactured by American and non-American companies to China.
The Biden administration aims to slow China’s development of advanced semiconductor and artificial intelligence systems that could assist its armed forces.
