The General Coordinator of the National Dialogue and the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs review efforts to enhance political participation

Dia Rashwan, General Coordinator of the National Dialogue, and Counselor Mahmoud Fawzi, Minister of Parliamentary, Legal and Political Affairs and Political Communication, participated in the side event organized by the Permanent Mission of Egypt in Geneva, under the title “Enhancing Political Participation in Egypt and Human Rights,” on Thursday, December 5. 2024, within the framework of the ongoing preparations for Egypt’s comprehensive periodic review session in January 2025.
Dia Rashwan, the general coordinator of the dialogue, addressed The National Bank, during his speech, presented the main features of the National Dialogue and its role in enhancing political participation and societal dialogue in Egypt, and the response of the state and its sectors to the outputs and recommendations issued by it, stressing the role of dialogue as one of the most important tools for enhancing political and social stability in Egypt, as it contributes to achieving a balance between rights and freedoms. And enhancing national understanding between various groups.
In the same context, Counselor Mahmoud Fawzi, Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs and Political Communication, reviewed during his speech the national efforts made. To protect and promote human rights in Egypt, among them are the most important features of the President of the Republic’s National Dialogue Initiative, which he launched in April 2022, with the aim of discussing national priorities for the future in the political, economic and social fields, under the slogan of common spaces, and that differences of opinion do not spoil the nation’s cause, with broad participation from various sectors. Society, political parties, representatives of civil society, trade unions, and public figures, which contributed to enriching discussions and interaction between groups of society.
The Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs and Political Communication indicated interest in The political leadership will implement the recommendations that depart from the dialogue, as the President of the Republic referred the recommendations issued by the first round of the national dialogue in August 2023 to study them and determine implementable measures, and the Prime Minister announced an executive plan to implement the recommendations of the national dialogue and develop clear measures and implementable programs for the ministries.
Minister Mahmoud Fawzi stressed Egypt’s determination to expand and deepen its national efforts to promote and protect human rights, despite the challenges it faces in its regional environment, which burden Egypt. Double.
