The President of the State issues a federal decree law amending some provisions of the Federal Judicial Authority Law

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, issued a federal decree law amending some provisions of the federal decree law regarding the federal judicial authority. The most prominent amendments included determining the rank of the President of the Federal Supreme Court and the Attorney General of the Federation, to the rank of minister. They shall have the same allocations and benefits as those appointed to this degree in accordance with the legislation in force in the federal government.
According to the new amendments, the grades, categories, and salaries of the remaining members of the judiciary, their bonuses and allowances, and the remuneration assigned to members of the Council, are determined by a federal decree.
The new decree-law also included an amendment with regard to the jurisdiction of the Federal Public Prosecutor, as he specializes in crimes that affect the interests of the Federation and other crimes over which jurisdiction is entrusted to the federal judiciary in accordance with the provisions of the laws in force in the country. The regional jurisdiction of the Federal Public Prosecutor with regard to other crimes is determined by the regional scope of the federal judiciary. The establishment and definition of federal prosecution departments shall be by decision of the Federal Attorney General based on the approval of the Federal Judicial Council.
The amendments included that the workplace and jurisdiction of members of the Public Prosecution be determined by a decision from the Federal Public Prosecutor, and the Federal Public Prosecutor will have a technical office consisting of a number of members of the Public Prosecution, and the powers of this office include all the emirates of the country.
The appointment of the heads of the courts of first instance and appeal, in accordance with the new decree law, shall be made by a decision of the President of the Federal Judicial Council based on the proposal of the Head of the Judicial Inspection Department and the approval of the Council, and the appointment of the heads of public prosecutions and those above them shall be made by a decision of the Federal Attorney General based on the approval of the Council.
