المملكة: 60 talented people participated in the Energy Hackathon to find innovative and sustainable solutions

60 talented male and female students from the “Mawhiba Classes” program participated in the Energy Hackathon, which was organized by the Smart Grids Conference, in cooperation with the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba”.
This is within the framework of the preliminary activities that precede the launch of the conference scheduled to be held from December 16 to 18 under the slogan “Energy and Sustainability,” under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy.

12 teams in the Energy Hackathon

The students who were selected from secondary schools in Riyadh were divided into 12 teams, in 3 tracks, which included the “Energy Hackathon”.
This aims to find qualitative solutions and creative ideas to innovate advanced technologies, to keep pace with efforts aimed at raising the capabilities of the energy sector and enabling it to overcome current and future challenges.
The first track of the hackathon included energy sustainability and its challenges represented in developing solar energy technologies that suit and enhance the quality of daily life.
In addition to designing solar-powered devices that provide effective solutions for beneficiaries in remote places.

In addition to solutions for converting waste into energy using new technologies, including biogas and pyrolysis, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Energy efficiency of electric cars

The second track includes improving the energy efficiency of electric cars in the Kingdom, through developing innovative solutions to facilitate the use of these cars, such as charging stations and technologies to increase efficiency.
In addition to projects to develop the infrastructure for charging stations and battery efficiency, and to enhance awareness of the environmental impact resulting from the use of electric cars.
The third track of the hackathon focused on innovation in energy storage by developing solutions that make electricity a digital currency that can be traded.

It also enables customers to store or sell their surplus production, which contributes to the creation of a digital electric economy that pushes towards investment in renewable energy solutions.

Adopting creative ideas

The Smart Grids Conference, within which the “Energy Hackathon” was organized, aims to embrace creative ideas, stimulate innovative minds, and support creative talents.
In addition to creating a stimulating and supportive environment to explore new solutions and technologies that contribute to increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing the quality of life.
This is to shape a prosperous energy future and enhance its contribution to the Kingdom’s continued global leadership.
