المملكة: “COP 16″… The Kingdom is working to enhance the role of women in the agricultural sector
Member of the National Committee for Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Federation of Saudi Chambers, Farah Al-Gharib, confirmed that the Kingdom is working to enhance the role of women in the agricultural sector.
She indicated that this is part of the efforts aimed at achieving food security and diversifying the national economy.
This came during a workshop organized entitled “Empowering Women as Leaders in the Agricultural Sector: The Key to Food Security and Sustainable Practices” during the activities of the 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP16), held in Riyadh.
Improving crop quality
Al-Gharib said that the importance of empowering women in agriculture comes through their ability to improve the quality and quantities of crops produced.
This would contribute to reducing dependence on food imports.
She pointed out that involving women in the management of the agricultural sector positively affects economic performance and their administrative capabilities in dealing with storage and distribution requirements.
Which leads to increased effectiveness of agricultural operations.
Professional development for women
Farah Al-Gharib explained that government initiatives focus on providing training and professional development for women.
This is done by providing various learning programs, including the use of modern techniques in agriculture and the cultivation of sustainable crops.
Our land is our future
The COP 16 Riyadh Conference will be held from December 2 to 13 in an area located close to Riyadh Boulevard.
Under the slogan “Our Land, Our Future,” this conference celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of the announcement of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.
It aims to stimulate multilateral action on important issues.
Such as addressing drought, land ownership rights, and sand and dust storms.
