Democratic Republic of the Congo: More than 1,200 deaths due to monkeypox in 2024
Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo announced today that 1,225 deaths have been recorded due to the monkeypox virus since the beginning of this year.
The Congolese Ministry of Health stated that 53,860 suspected cases of infection with the virus have been recorded, including 11,984 confirmed cases and 1,225 deaths, since the beginning of this year.

It reported that about 30% of suspected cases were discovered in the South Kivu region (east), which is the most affected in the country.
