Found cassette tapes containing unknown songs by Michael Jackson

Cassette tapes containing about 15 unknown songs by the late American singer Michael Jackson were found in an abandoned storage unit in North Los Angeles, according to what the Hollywood Reporter magazine reported Thursday.
The magazine explained that former policeman Greg Musgrove found these recordings, including a duet with rapper LL Cool J, in a storage unit owned by music producer Brian Lauren, who collaborated with the late star, and his whereabouts are currently unknown.
According to the explanations written on the cassette tapes, the recordings date back to the period 1989-1991, before the release of the album “Dangerous”, which included the song “Black or White” in 1991.

Rare recordings

Musgrove told The Hollywood Reporter about the discovered tapes, “I was listening to those recordings and I felt goosebumps because no one had ever heard them before. It was really cool to hear Michael Jackson talking and joking.”
However, the magazine pointed out that it appears that Michael Jackson’s fans will not be able to listen to these songs, as they will not be able to be released, given that the Jackson Estate, which manages the late star’s inheritance, saw that owning the cassette tapes does not mean owning the rights to them.
A Jackson Estate spokesperson explained to The Hollywood Reporter that these audio clips are not “new” and that “in the vaults of the estate” are original recordings of them.
About 350 million copies of Michael Jackson’s records were sold, including “Thriller”, which is considered the biggest-selling album of all time.
