Brazil.. A former member of Bolsonaro’s government was arrested due to a coup plot

On Saturday, Brazilian Federal Police arrested General Walter Braga Beto, a former member of President Jair Bolsonaro’s government and his running mate in the 2022 presidential election, in connection with investigations into an alleged coup plot, according to a source close to the operation.
The source spoke on condition of anonymity, because he was not authorized to speak publicly.

Braga Neto was formally accused in November, along with Bolsonaro and 35 others, of planning a coup to keep Bolsonaro in office, after he failed to be re-elected in 2022.

Prosecutors have not yet brought formal charges against Braga Neto, and the federal police said in a statement that the arrest, which took place on Saturday, was due to allegations of obstructing the collection of evidence.
