6 deaths recorded.. Uganda exceeds the mark of 1,000 cases of monkeypox
The number of cases of monkeypox in Uganda has exceeded 1,000, with 6 deaths recorded since the disease began to appear about 5 months ago.
The Ugandan Ministry of Health reported in a statement that it had detected 17 new infections during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 1,044 cases spread across 57 out of 146 districts in the country since the first infection was recorded last August.

The ministry indicated that the capital, Kampala, has become a major hotspot for the disease, with at least 10 cases of new infections recorded.
