Lebanon: The Lebanese army is strengthening its presence as Israel continues its operations in the south

At a press conference in New York on Tuesday, United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric said that the Israeli army simultaneously continued to carry out its operations in southern Lebanon. “Against what it claims are Hezbollah’s goals, it restricts people’s entry into villages near the Blue Line, including Naqoura.”

He said UNIFIL peacekeepers continue to carry out their operational tasks, including maintaining logistical routes and resupplying the mission’s various bases along the Blue Line. Dujarric said: “The mission also continues to cooperate with the Israeli army to coordinate its movements, the Lebanese Armed Forces and humanitarian missions in the area of ​​operations.”

In related news, the United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, met with religious and community leaders in Tripoli, which is the capital of northern Lebanon. She affirmed the organization’s readiness and commitment to continue supporting all efforts aimed at strengthening Lebanon’s security and stability and promoting its long-term recovery.
