The most devastating hurricane in Mayotte.. “Chido” victims rose to 39 dead

The number of victims of Hurricane Chido in the French archipelago of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean has risen to 39, according to the latest toll announced by local authorities.
Meanwhile, the French Ministry of the Interior announced that the number of wounded had risen to 4,136, of whom the condition of 124 was serious.

Mayotte provincial authorities said, “The process of identifying hurricane victims is continuing in coordination with local officials and associations.”
Early Tuesday morning, a field hospital equipped with a maternity ward and two operating rooms was opened in a stadium in eastern Mamoudzou, the main city on the archipelago. The facility was designed to receive 100 people daily for examination.

The most devastating hurricane in Mayotte in 90 years caused massive damage when it struck France’s poorest department on the 14th.
