"Community development" Abu Dhabi honors award winners "And to you"

Abu Dhabi, December 25 / WAM / The Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi honored 3 winners of the “Wayakum” initiative awards for the year 2024, which is a pioneering community digital platform that works to involve community members in designing innovative solutions and receives their proposals to address the most important various societal challenges.

This year, the “Weyakum” initiative focused on attracting solutions to the challenges facing youth and adolescents in two main axes: spending quality time with the family, and preserving national values ​​and identity.

The third edition comes in 2024 after the great success achieved by the initiative in previous editions, where the total number of entries reached more than 500 ideas presented by community members, a large number of which were activated, including the initiative to volunteer and serve senior citizens at the “NMC Royal” Hospital in the city. Khalifa, and the Kashta Tourism Initiative.

The first place in 2024 was won by an innovative initiative entitled “Values ​​Ambassadors Programme” presented by Sarah Al Nahdi and Hussein Al Mansouri. It is an awareness program that works to empower young people and teenagers to become inspiring models and ambassadors for authentic Emirati values, and focuses on instilling and consolidating basic values ​​such as respect, Tolerance, giving and cooperation, develops leadership and communication skills, and encourages effective participation in community projects.

The “A Day in the Life of Our Parents” initiative, presented by Nada Al Hammadi, came in second place. It aims to increase understanding between parents and their teenage children, and provides teenagers from the age of 13 years and above the opportunity to accompany their parents in the workplace for two to three weeks annually, where they share a day with them. Complete work tasks, which is an experience that helps them understand the responsibilities and challenges facing their parents in daily life, which contributes to enhancing feelings of respect and appreciation, and promotes the development of Develops adolescents’ communication skills and emotional intelligence, enabling them to explore their professional interests for the future.

In third place came an innovative application for smart phones, presented by Mahmoud Suleiman, Sarah Hamdan, Omnia Ahmed, and Sawala Shafi. It is called “Treasures – A Journey in Search of Heritage and Culture,” and it invites family members to embark on weekly adventures full of excitement throughout the emirate. He assigns them to solve puzzles that lead them to discover new places, which contributes to enhancing their understanding of Abu Dhabi’s culture and heritage, deepening their connection to it, and strengthening ties. Family.

Her Excellency Engineer Sheikha Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Monitoring and Social Innovation Sector at the Department of Community Development, said that the “Wayakum” initiative emphasizes the importance of community members’ participation in bringing about positive change, by highlighting the most prominent social challenges and providing innovative solutions that will enhance the quality of life of groups. Society, pointing out that the winners presented distinguished ideas that reflect their high social sense and their skills in finding effective and successful solutions that contribute to addressing social challenges, consolidating Emirati values ​​and national identity, and enhancing cohesion. The “Weyakum” platform allows community members, including citizens, residents, and visitors, to propose solutions to issues that affect the quality of life of the individual and society, and publishes all ideas that pass screening and eligibility criteria, to be voted on by interested members of the public, and experts in the social sector can then evaluate the ideas.
