Dubai Customs organizes the Authorized Economic Operator Forum

Dubai, December 26 / WAM / Dubai Customs organized the first edition of the Authorized Economic Operator Forum “AEO Connect 2024”, as a platform to exchange ideas and visions and explore opportunities to develop the Authorized Economic Operator program and enhance cooperation between Customs and the commercial sector, according to a press release issued today.

This comes as a result of its efforts to enrich the experience of member companies in the Authorized Economic Operator Program and drive trade growth through the program, which provides competitive facilities and incentives to members.
The Authorized Economic Operator Programme, which is a federal program at the UAE level, works to link the country commercially and customs with countries around the world, and facilitates the access of member companies’ goods to global markets, especially the markets of countries with which mutual recognition agreements are signed.
The program contributes to enhancing foreign trade through the benefits and facilities it grants to its members, such as simplifying customs procedures, priority in completing transactions, and other benefits that provide speedy clearance of goods for committed companies, in accordance with controls and procedures that enhance the customs security system and ensure trade facilitation.
Iman Badr Al Suwaidi, Director of Customs Value Department and Director of the Authorized Economic Operator Program at Dubai Customs, confirmed during her opening speech at the forum, which was held via video communication, that Dubai Customs seeks, through organizing this forum, to enhance communication and support members of the Authorized Economic Operator Program and achieve growth. Sustainable in foreign trade.
She explained that the program includes 130 members in the UAE, noting that the program has achieved great achievements with the launch of the regional authorized economic operator program for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in 2023 and the signing of mutual recognition agreements with major trade partners, as this enabled members to be granted the advantage of the authorized economic operator. With the GCC countries, the Republic of Korea, China, India and Indonesia, which strengthens their position as reliable traders.
The forum witnessed a keynote speech from Maersk, in which the importance of the Authorized Economic Operator 2.0 program was highlighted in leading the facilitation of global trade and supporting the flexibility of supply chains, and the importance of the program in the challenges of the global economy. It was also pointed out that the program is currently developing to advance to generation 3.0, which includes innovation. Digital and the role of data in enhancing the efficiency of the program, to be more secure, in addition to many features and the addition of fast trade corridors, reliable trade corridors, digital corridors, smart borders, and smarter risk management.
The forum included a dialogue session with the participation of representatives from General Motors, Dow Chemical, Huawei, Maersk and Dubai Customs, in which the speakers reviewed the impact of the program on their work and their future vision for the program.
