Out of 31… Ukraine announces the downing of 20 Russian drones
Russian forces launched attacks on Ukraine during the night, using 31 Shahed drones and other unidentified models, launched from the Orel and Millerovo regions.
Shooting down Russian marches
The Ukrainian National News Agency, Ukrainform, reported that the attack was repelled by anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire teams of the Ukrainian Air Force and Air Defense.
The statement indicated that by 30:08 today, Thursday, Ukrainian air defenses shot down 20 Shahed drones.
Repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine war
Other unidentified drones were also shot down in the Kharkiv, Kiev, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
The Ukrainian Air Force explained in the statement that 11 drones deviated from their course, as a result of effective countermeasures (electronic warfare), and did not result in any casualties or damage on the ground.
Yesterday, fierce battles broke out between attacking Russian forces and Ukrainian forces defending the strategically important city of Pokrovsk, located in eastern Ukraine.
In its report on the situation, the General Staff in Kiev indicated that 35 Russian attacks were reported around the city located on the outskirts of the Donbas region during the day.
Violent battles
Regional Commander Viktor Trekhupov said, “Three Russian armies are stationed here against us,” noting that “the battles here are very violent because the Russian occupiers are pushing all their available forces forward and are trying to penetrate the defense lines of our forces.”
On Tuesday, the Ukrainian army announced that the number of Russian soldiers killed and wounded since the beginning of the war on Ukrainian territory in February 2022 had risen to about 777,720 soldiers.
He also pointed out that Ukrainian forces have destroyed 9,624 tanks since the beginning of the war, including 9 tanks on Monday.
It also destroyed 19,915 armored combat vehicles, 21,323 artillery systems, 1,256 multiple-launch rocket launcher systems, and 1,030 air defense systems.
