Air traffic disruption at Munich Airport due to winter weather

A spokesman for the German city of Munich Airport announced on Sunday morning that there had been disturbances in air traffic at the airport due to snow and ice.
According to the airport’s website, some flights that were scheduled to take off this morning have been cancelled.

The spokesman said that the airlines had already taken the decision to cancel last night’s flights as a precautionary measure, adding that one of the runways was currently being kept open while the other was being cleaned.
The spokesman stated that reduced visibility due to snowfall led to an extension of the periods between take-off and landing, adding that there are also planes that need to be de-iced.
It is not yet clear how long the weather-related restrictions will last.
