Applications for candidacy in the third-term renewal elections for the Egyptian Judges Club are open starting today

The Presidential Judicial Committee supervising the Egyptian Judges Club elections, headed by Counselor Mohamed Reda Shawkat, announced the opening of applications for nominations for the third-term renewal elections for the club’s Board of Directors, which will be held next February 21, from this morning until next Thursday evening.  

 

Counsel Ashraf Issa, President of the Economic Criminal Court in Cairo and Secretary-General of the Presidential Committee supervising the Judges Club elections, said – In his statement today – The election process will be conducted for the position of Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors to complete the remaining term of the presidency until the end of this year, in addition to the seat allocated to advisors, two seats allocated to presidents of courts and judges, one of which should be at the rank of judge, and two seats allocated to members of the Public Prosecution.   He pointed out that the committee supervising the elections decided that applications for candidacy would be received during the specified days, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., with the exception of official holidays.

 

He added that It has been decided that requests to waive candidacy or objections will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Monday, January 13, provided that the electoral process takes place on February 21 in the lobby of the High Court, to facilitate the members The club.

 

Counsel Ashraf Issa stressed that holding the elections for the Egyptian Judges Club at this important stage constitutes an honorable manifestation of the democracy and transparency that characterizes the ancient judicial institution… continuing: " The Judges Club was and still is a beacon of giving and a platform for defending noble values ​​and the independence of the judiciary, and holding these elections comes in support of our established traditions that depend on active participation and consolidating the values ​​of integrity. “Equality and transparency.”   He pointed out that the presidential committee supervising the conduct of the electoral process includes a number of sheikh judges, headed by Counselor Mohamed Reda Shawkat, former head of the Cairo Court of Appeal, and that the committee will undertake full administrative supervision of all stages of the electoral process, starting from receiving candidacy applications, through voting procedures, Leading up to the announcement of the results, taking care to accurately implement the club’s regulations, ensuring that the electoral process proceeds in a neutral and fair manner.

 

Councilor Ashraf urged Issa – advisors and judges, members of the club to participate in the elections, considering that they represent a fundamental pillar for their success, and an embodiment of the will of judges to choose their representatives, stressing the importance of adhering to the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation that Egypt’s judges have always maintained under the umbrella of the Judges Club.

 

He said: “These elections are not just an administrative entitlement, but rather a message to future generations, expressing our keenness to adhere to the principles of justice and equality, and the values ​​of transparency.” And the integrity that we believe in… I call on all of you to participate positively and effectively in these elections, whether as candidates or voters, to confirm that the Judges Club will remain a role model in democratic institutional work.”

 

The committee supervising the elections includes among its members: Counselor Dr. Fathi Al-Masry, former First Deputy President of the Court of Cassation, Counselor Fathi Handal, former First Deputy President of the Court of Cassation, and Counselor Youssef Othman, former President of the Court of Appeal, Counselor Mohsen Mabrouk, former President of the Court of Appeal, Counselor Mohamed Sherine Fahmy, former President of the Court of Appeal, Counselor Abdel Aziz Ibrahim Tantawi, former Second Deputy President of the Court of Cassation, and Counselor Adel Al-Saeed, former President of the Court of Appeal.
