Trump seeks to cancel the ruling in one of his famous cases
Lawyers for Trump, who will become the 47th president of the United States on January 20, are asking for an “automatic suspension” of the procedure, which is observed under an order issued on January 3 by a Manhattan District Court judge.
The issue of buying silence for Trump
The ruling will be pronounced ten days before Trump’s inauguration in Washington, although it is unlikely that it will include his imprisonment.
“The Court should cancel the sentencing hearing on January 10, 2025, and suspend all deadlines in this case until the appeals based on President Trump’s immunity are fully and finally exhausted, and the case is dismissed in “The end.”
The two lawyers will hold the second and third positions, respectively, in the structure of the US Department of Justice in the next administration.
Trump’s conviction
On May 30, a jury in New York convicted the former president, who was re-elected in November, of 34 charges related to falsifying business records to conceal a sum of money paid by Trump in 2016 in what was known as “buying silence.”
Trump is not being blamed for paying these checks, but rather for “aggravated accounting falsification to hide a conspiracy to undermine the results of the 2016 elections” that he won against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
Trump and his circles repeatedly criticized a “campaign to discredit him” planned by the judiciary in New York State and the Democratic administration of President Joe Biden.
Judicial rulings against Trump
Trump failed to overturn this historic ruling on the basis of presidential immunity, a constitutional principle that the US Supreme Court expanded on July 1 in favor of the Republican.
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his optimism about the ability of the new “strong” US President Donald Trump to force Russia to enter into peace talks and end the war in Ukraine.
