Within 24 hours…218 clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces in Kursk

Intense fighting continues in the Kursk region of southern Russia after Ukraine launched a new offensive.
According to the Ukrainian General Staff, 218 clashes took place on all axes of the front in the past 24 hours.
In the Kursk region alone, Ukrainian forces repelled 94 Russian attacks, according to the authority.
The Ukrainian Special Forces Command said on its Facebook page that 13 North Korean soldiers were killed in the Kursk region.

Ukrainian surprise attack

Kiev launched another surprise attack in the region over the weekend, and according to experts from the US Institute for the Study of War, Ukrainian forces advanced northeast of the city of Sodja.
This may indicate the presence of a coordinated operation in the region, but also preparations for an attack on other axes of the front, the institute wrote, referring to geographical data extracted from images published on the Internet.

The Russian Ministry of Defense and military bloggers had previously reported that Russian forces had responded to the recent Ukrainian attacks.

Advance of Ukrainian forces

Ukrainian forces advanced across the border between the two countries for the first time last August, and have since occupied parts of the Kursk region.
After months of fighting, Russian forces regained about half of this territory.
Under an agreement with Pyongyang, Moscow is also deploying North Korean soldiers to reinforce its forces in the Kursk region.
