3 people were killed in a seaplane crash on an Australian tourist island
A seaplane has crashed while taking off from an Australian tourist island, killing three people.
The German News Agency (DPA) reported that there were seven people on board the plane when it crashed during take-off on Tuesday near Rottnest Island, which is 22 kilometers off the coast of Perth in Australia.
Roger Cook, Premier of Western Australia, announced during a press conference on Wednesday that police had recovered three bodies from the wreckage overnight.
Cook explained that the victims are: a 65-year-old woman believed to be a tourist from Switzerland, a 60-year-old man believed to be a tourist from Denmark, in addition to the 34-year-old pilot from Perth.

He added: “The other four passengers were rescued and are now in stable condition and receiving appropriate medical care.”
It should be noted that Rottnest Island is a protected nature reserve and a popular tourist destination in Australia.
The plane, owned by Swan River Seaplanes, was on its way back to its base in Perth, the capital of Western Australia, which is 30 kilometers (19 miles) east of Rottnest Island, also known as Wadjemup in the indigenous language.
