The Minister of Awqaf receives the Singaporean Minister of Islamic Affairs

Dr. Osama Al Azhari, Minister of Endowments, received Mr. Masagos Zulkifli, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Minister of Community Development and Second Minister of Health of Singapore; To discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the cultural and religious fields.

The Minister of Endowments welcomed Mr. Masagos Zulkifli, stressing the importance of cooperation in spreading moderate thought, strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Singapore in the religious, cultural and training fields, and continuing joint efforts. In supporting the values ​​of moderation, tolerance and coexistence. The Minister of Endowments also praised the experience of coexistence, brotherhood, and true contribution to society and to the upliftment of the nation, as embodied by the experience of Muslims in Singapore.

For his part, the Singaporean Minister expressed his happiness at visiting Egypt and his admiration for the New Administrative Capital, including its unique architecture and great development. He also expressed his great pleasure in meeting with the Minister of Endowments, stressing his endeavor to open new horizons for cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments in all cultural and religious fields, given the Ministry’s great experience in this regard.

The guest pointed out that most of the religious leaders in Singapore studied at Al-Azhar, and that the current Mufti and the two previous ones are graduates of Al-Azhar University, adding: “Al-Azhar graduates in Singapore are advocates of peace, and we hope that all our students will go to Al-Azhar because of the importance it enjoys.” The confidence of the Muslims of Singapore, and to draw from the source of authentic moderation.”

The Singaporean Minister stressed that the Muslims of Singapore have a major role in the stability and progress of their country, and that Al-Azhar has contributed to establishing peace and harmony in Singapore through its graduates who spread brotherhood and coexistence. They take into account the specificity of the Singaporean context as a multi-religious and multi-ethnic country, and focus on the practical and applied aspect of applying Sharia rulings to contemporary reality and taking into account The surrounding circumstances.

The Singaporean minister concluded his dialogue by noting that Singapore had begun establishing the Singapore College of Islamic Studies in cooperation with the Egyptian Fatwa House, expressing his appreciation for the assistance provided by the Fatwa House in developing fatwa curricula, especially with regard to training Religious cadres, and he added that this college will serve as a scientific center that contributes to the graduation of scientific cadres with local and international influence.

For his part, Dr. Osama Al-Azhari stressed his pride in the Singapore experience, He was fully prepared to participate in the efforts to establish the college and support its curricula. The meeting also included the presentation of proposals and ideas to improve the jurisprudence of the endowment and its management.

It is worth noting that the Singapore delegation also included His Excellency the Ambassador of Singapore to Egypt, the CEO of the Islamic Affairs Council in Singapore, and the Mufti Singapore, along with a number of officials and assistants whom the Minister of Awqaf was keen to receive and greet them himself. The visit concluded with an exchange of gifts between the two ministers and taking souvenir photos.
