An earthquake measuring 5.8 Richter strikes El Salvador… and no reports of damage

A strong earthquake struck El Salvador on Thursday, forcing terrified residents to flee their homes into the streets, and there are no reports available on the extent of the destruction.
The US Geological Survey reported that the intensity of the earthquake reached 5.8 on the Richter scale and that its epicenter was nine kilometers east of Akakhotea at a depth of 95 kilometers.

The Ministry of Environment of El Salvador initially indicated that the epicenter of the earthquake was located on the country’s Pacific coast, southwest of Santa Ana.
