المملكة: 37 researchers participated in the 5th International Conference on Camels in Arab Culture
The Fifth International Conference on Camels in Arab Culture will start next Tuesday, and is organized by King Saud University, represented by the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, in cooperation with the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language.
It comes under the title Camels in Arab Culture, sponsored by the President of King Saud University, Professor Dr. Abdullah Al-Salman.

The head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature and the head of the conference, Professor Dr. Hajid Al-Harbi, confirmed that the conference represents a celebration of the authentic values and ancient heritage associated with camels, and reflects pride in the cultural and civilizational identity that is an integral part of the Kingdom’s history and heritage.
He pointed out that this initiative comes in line with the Kingdom’s vision 2030, which focuses on strengthening national identity and highlighting the cultural elements inherent in society.
Conference Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Al-Furaih added that the conference comes in response to the Council of Ministers’ announcement naming the year two thousand and twenty-four AD as the Year of the Camel, with the aim of highlighting its cultural and civilizational status and its role in shaping Arab literature and human thought.
He noted that the conference witnesses the participation of 37 male and female researchers from different countries, discussing various topics related to camels in the literary and cultural heritage.
The cultural heritage of camels
The conference topics include discussing the cultural heritage associated with camels, including the study of popular heritage, antiquities, inscriptions and rock drawings, in addition to their place in language and literature, and their role in enhancing cultural identity and the national economy within the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
On the sidelines of the conference, a documentary exhibition will be held in which a number of official and private institutions will participate, with the aim of presenting distinguished achievements and initiatives that shed light on camels and their cultural and civilizational role. The exhibition provides the opportunity for visitors to interact with the community and learn about relevant programs and initiatives.
The conference aims to enhance academic studies on camels and introduce their cultural and civilizational importance, and their role in shaping the national identity and Arab heritage, in a way that reflects the Kingdom’s vision of preserving cultural heritage and consolidating authentic values.
