Memorandum of understanding between "Abu Dhabi Culture Group" and"Shanghai Arts Festival"
ABU DHABI, 13 JANUARY / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Group for Culture and Arts signed a memorandum of understanding with the Shanghai International Arts Festival, within the framework of an exceptional strategic partnership that opens a new chapter of cultural cooperation and understanding between the two friendly countries, the Emirates and China, and comes in celebration of four decades since the beginning of established diplomatic relations between them. .
A memorandum of understanding was signed by His Excellency Hoda Ibrahim Al Khamis, founder of the Abu Dhabi Group for Culture and Arts, founder and artistic director of the Abu Dhabi Festival, and Li Ming, President of the Shanghai International Arts Festival, in the presence of His Excellency Zhang Yiming, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the UAE, at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
As a translation of the terms of the memorandum of understanding, the Abu Dhabi Festival and the Shanghai Chinese International Arts Festival will cooperate in launching new initiatives, projects, joint productions, and cultural exchange programs for the first time in the Arab world.
Her Excellency Hoda Ibrahim Al-Khamis said that this partnership with the Shanghai International Arts Festival – the most important and influential festival in the Asia-Pacific region – represents a historical precedent for the Arab world, a reflection of the pivotal role played by the Abu Dhabi Festival through joint production works and exclusive commissions on the regional and global scene. .
She added that the expansion of strategic partnerships to Shanghai allows the transformative power of the arts to be harnessed to build bridges of international cooperation, celebrate creativity, and deepen the ties of friendship between the United Arab Emirates and China.
She said: “Together, we are leading a new era of cultural cooperation that inspires communities around the world, and strengthens and enriches the bonds between them.”
