المملكة: Eastern Province leads… Health: 597 decisions regarding deaths from medical errors

The Ministry of Health revealed statistics on deaths from medical errors during the past year, as forensic health bodies issued 597 decisions related to deaths resulting from medical errors.
A report issued by the Ministry indicated that the conviction rate in these cases amounted to only 29%, as 173 conviction decisions were issued, while the bodies decided not to convict in 424 cases in various regions of the Kingdom.

Medical error deaths

The Eastern Region topped the regions in terms of the number of decisions related to deaths from medical errors, with 98 decisions.
It was followed by Al-Ahsa Health with 97 decisions, then Asir with 87 decisions, and Medina with 78 decisions, while the Riyadh region came in fifth place with 72 decisions.

Condemnation decisions

In terms of condemnation decisions, Al-Sharqiya also topped the list with 42 decisions, followed by Asir with 26 decisions, then Taif with 21 decisions, while Riyadh and Al-Ahsa were equal with 20 decisions each.
On the other hand, Al-Ahsa topped the list of non-conviction decisions with 77 decisions, followed by Medina with 72 decisions, then Asir with 61 decisions, Al-Sharqiyah with 56 decisions, and finally Riyadh with 52 decisions.
