Mohammed Al Sharqi reviews the activities of the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club and its strategic plans

FUJAIRAH, 29 JANUARY / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, stressed the importance of supporting and empowering national competencies, and promoting investment in distinguished young energies in various sports and cultural fields.
This came during a meeting with His Highness, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Barakat, Vice President of the International Chess Federation, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club, members of the Board of Directors, and a number of players who achieved outstanding achievements during the 2025 sports season, most notably the player Ammar Muhammad Al-Sidrani, the UAE Men’s Champion for the third year in a row, the UAE Rapid Chess Champion, and the national team.
His Highness affirmed the interest and follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, for the sports sector, and his support for various qualitative initiatives and programs that contribute to enhancing the presence of local talent at the regional and international sports level.
During the meeting, His Highness was briefed on the outstanding achievements achieved by the club during the 2025 sports season, and a comprehensive report on the successes achieved by the First Fujairah World Chess Championship, which was held under the patronage of His Highness and achieved wide resonance at the international level, with the participation of more than 600 players, both male and female, representing 71 countries, to be recorded as the strongest open tournament in the world during the season, with an average rating of 2,606 points in the “Super Star” category.
His Highness also listened to a presentation about the club’s strategic plan, its activities and calendar for the 2026 season, and its readiness to host the final leg of the WFCC-Fujairah Grand Prix Championship.
His Highness praised the efforts made by the club management and players, stressing the importance of transforming experiences and skills into practical initiatives that contribute to developing institutional performance and advancing the sports sector in the emirate.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Barakat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club, thanked and appreciated His Highness for his continued support of the sports field and national talents.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Director of the Office of His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah.
