New US President Donald Trump said in his inauguration speech on Monday that he wants to leave a legacy as a “peacemaker and unifier.”
He added: “This is what I want, a peacemaker and unifier.”
He continued, “I am pleased to say that as of yesterday, one day before I took office, hostages in the Middle East have been returned to their families,” referring to the ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement in the Gaza war.
Trump described his next term as president as “the greatest four years in American history.”
“We stand on the cusp of the greatest four years in American history,” Trump said in his inauguration speech at the US Capitol in Washington.
He added, “With your help, we will restore the promise of America – and we will rebuild the nation that we love and love so dearly.”
