"Davos 2025".. "Initiatives of Mohammed bin Rashid" and"UNICEF" They strengthen their cooperation to support communities and less fortunate groups around the world

Davos, January 22, 2017 – His Excellency Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, discussed with Catherine Russell, Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides, and the results achieved after One year has passed since the Initiatives Foundation pledged to provide about 30 million dirhams ($8.1 million) as a contribution to the Child Nutrition Fund (CNF), which is managed by UNICEF.
This came during the participation of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives” in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, which will be held from January 20 to 24.
The “Child Nutrition Fund” is a new financing mechanism designed to accelerate the implementation of policies, programs and assistance directed at ending the phenomenon of child wasting. This donation will enable the Child Nutrition Fund to provide basic nutritional supplements and therapeutic meals to more than 371,000 children and women until the end of the year 2027, which is consistent with the objectives of the Child Nutrition Fund. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, in combating hunger and malnutrition, and helping less fortunate groups around the world.
The meeting emphasized the commitment of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation and UNICEF to address child nutrition crises around the world, in addition to reviewing the project plans and initiatives that the Initiatives Foundation is working on with UNICEF, especially in its first phase, which supports four countries. They are Mongolia, Tanzania, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka.
His Excellency Mohammed Al Gergawi said that our cooperation with UNICEF embodies the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” by providing support and care to the most needy groups in the world, especially children and their families, in a way that guarantees them the conditions for a decent life. This translates the organization’s humanitarian mission of harnessing all resources and capabilities to bring about a positive change in the reality of societies around the world.
His Excellency added that this partnership comes at a time when many countries of the world are suffering from economic crises, conflicts, and climate change, which impose increasing challenges on children and women, especially in the areas affected by these conflicts, and joint work between the Mohammed bin Rashid Initiatives Foundation Al Maktoum International) and UNICEF, to support efforts that seek to achieve a sustainable positive impact on the lives of millions of people, empower the most vulnerable communities and improve their quality of life.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation includes dozens of initiatives and institutions that implement charitable and humanitarian work programs within five main axes: humanitarian and relief aid, health care and combating disease, disseminating education and knowledge, inventing the future and leadership, and empowering communities, in a way that supports humanitarian work. The institution achieves its sustainability, expands its positive impact, establishes a culture of hope in the region and the world, and contributes to achieving the desired development for a better future. The volume of the institution’s spending reached 1.8 billion. dirham in the year 2023, and more than 111 million beneficiaries in 105 countries have benefited from its programmes.
