"National Archives" Organizing a media forum within the Cairo International Book Fair

Cairo, January 25, 2017 – The National Archives and the National Library organized a media forum, on the sidelines of the Cairo International Book Fair, with the aim of strengthening cultural and media ties between the UAE and Egypt.

The forum was attended by His Excellency Muhammad Ahmed Al-Murr, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Archives and Library, an elite group of newspaper editors, editorial directors of Egyptian media outlets, and a large number of media professionals.

Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General of the National Archives and Library, in his speech at the opening of the forum, stressed the Archive’s keenness to participate annually in the exhibition, as it is a major cultural event and one of the largest book fairs in the Middle East.

He pointed to the development that the National Archives and Library are witnessing at this stage, as it is considered one of the prominent bodies in terms of creating serious and influential cultural content, and this is evident in its position in the cultural scene, and as a cultural radiation center that enriches libraries with its specialized publications that carry documented and accurate information, and with the cultural events that it organizes. Inside and outside the United Arab Emirates, in addition to his keenness to preserve the country’s documentary heritage.

He pointed out that the National Library is working to build its diverse cultural collections and make them available to its patrons, stressing that this vital cultural activity as a whole is on the verge of a real qualitative leap represented by paving the way for the entry of artificial intelligence and its applications that will ensure long-term preservation and the digitization of content and making it available.
