The Committee for Technology, Energy and Mineral Resources, during its virtual meeting yesterday, headed by Dr. Nidal Mohamed Al Tunaiji, reviewed a parliamentary study on the issue of government policy in achieving national security for pharmaceutical industries and medical supplies.

The members of the committee were attended by: Aisha Ibrahim Al -Marri (Rapporteur of the Committee), Muhammad Issa Al -Khatif, Hilal Muhammad Al -Kaabi, and Walid Ali Al -Mansouri, (members).

During its meeting, the committee reviewed the parliamentary study of the research team in the General Secretariat of the Council, according to the axes of the general issue, which are the sustainability of pharmaceutical industries and medical products, enhancing access to medicines and medical supplies and their impact on the quality of life, and the legislation supporting national investments in the drug industries and medical supplies and the protection of medical innovations.

The study included data and observations related to the first axis, including enhancing local production and attracting leading investments in pharmaceutical industries and medical supplies, localizing and qualifying national competencies to sustain the pharmaceutical industries, and promoting research and development in the pharmaceutical industries and medical products sector, and in the second axis the observations came on supporting the national industries of drugs and supplies Medical, and its impact on the quality of life, the sustainability of the pharmaceutical inventory at the time of crises and disasters, the quality and safety of medicines on individuals, and the prices of medicines, and the third axis notes included simplifying procedures and conditions for registration and manufacture of medical products, their role in supporting national industries, and the extent of alignment of legislation for developments in the field of investment and innovation in The pharmaceutical industries sector, and the impact of legislation in ensuring the quality and quality of pharmaceutical industries and medical supplies, and the reasons, effects and proposals for these notes.
