The Emirates Environment Working Group implements qualitative initiatives and projects in the general community

Dubai, February 9 / WAM / The Emirates Environmental Working Group intends to launch a group of initiatives during the community of 2025, which includes implementing projects aimed at improving the local environment and enhancing social responsibility in achieving environmental sustainability, in cooperation with a number of governmental and private institutions.

The group’s initiatives include expanding recycling programs by increasing the number of participants in recycling campaigns, expanding their scope to include society groups in all emirates of the state, organizing activities to plant trees, with the aim of combating desertification, improving air quality, and strengthening green spaces.

Initiatives target academic institutions through workshops and environmental competitions, to teach young people the importance of preserving the environment and encouraging them to adopt friendly practices.

Habiba Al -Marashi, CEO of the Emirates Environment Group, said that the year 2025 is a golden opportunity to intensify awareness efforts throughout the country, and that the group focuses on supporting local communities and motivating them to adopt responsible environmental practices, with the aim of achieving an environmental sustainability in the long term.

She pointed out that the group’s future plans aim to enhance community participation in environmental protection initiatives by activating the role of individuals and companies in making a positive and tangible change and their effective participation in recycling projects and cleaning campaigns.

She said that the group is seeking to achieve “zero waste” in the landfills by 2030 by enhancing the practices of the circular economy, and supporting the private sector in implementing environmental governance strategies, as well as developing innovative projects aimed at reducing the carbon footprint and encouraging the sustainability of natural resources.

She added that the group continues to implement projects dedicated to schools and universities to enhance environmental culture among young people, by organizing environmental rhetoric competitions, workshops, and environmental drawing competitions, in addition to field activities such as afforestation and cleaning campaigns, and waste sorting programs, which enhance the role of youth in improving their environment. And the protection of natural resources.

She explained that the group seeks to expand its initiatives to include the countries of the region through cooperation with regional and international organizations, and to exchange experiences to implement joint environmental projects that contribute to promoting sustainability throughout the region.

The Emirates Environment Working Group implemented a number of environmental initiatives and projects with a positive impact during the year 2024, the most prominent of which is a clean UAE campaign, which succeeded in attracting more than 83 thousand people from community groups, during which 43 thousand and 544 kilograms of waste were collected, in addition to cleaning 95.5 square kilometers Of the areas in the emirates of the state, the cultivation of 15 thousand and 881 trees in different regions, in which more than 1500 people from 182 companies and 62 schools participated in addition to 209 families.

The group continued its efforts to push the recycling wheel at the state level, where one million and 173 thousand and 494 kg of paper, 131 thousand and 468 kg of plastic, and 32 thousand and 833 kg of aluminum during the year 2024, were collected, and 14 thousand and 28 kg of electronic waste were collected Through innovative administrative programs that aim to reduce the use of non -rotable materials; These efforts contributed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 8425.7.7 metric tons. The group organized 5 dialogue sessions and environmental competitions targeting more than 451,791 male and female students from different schools and universities in the Emirates, as well as implementing educational programs that aim to change environmental behaviors and motivate individuals to take effective steps to reduce the effects of environmental pollution.

Statistics showed the great positive impact of the group’s initiatives on the environment and society, as the “Emirates Clean” campaign contributed to reducing waste in natural and tourist areas, afforestation campaigns in improving air quality and increasing green spaces, and waste management programs in promoting the circular economy and reducing environmental pollution; As a result of these initiatives, the provision of 16,802 gallons of gasoline, in addition to saving 19 thousand and 949 trees.
