Cyber Security Council enhances awareness about "Cyber addiction to the family"

Abu Dhabi, February 10 / WAM / The Cyber Security Council of the UAE government, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Councils at the Citizen and Society Affairs Office at the Presidential Court, organized an awareness session entitled “Cyber addiction to the family”.
The session was organized in Al -Sarooj and Al -Ain Council in Al Ain, in the presence of a large number of citizens and specialists in the fields of cybersecurity and education.
This initiative comes within a community awareness campaign launched by the Council in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Councils, in line with the announcement of the rational leadership in 2025 years of society, with the aim of enhancing awareness of national issues and introducing the risks resulting from the rapid technological developments.
During the session, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al -Kuwaiti, head of the cybersecurity of the UAE government, addressed the psychological and physical risks of electronic games addiction, noting that the World Health Organization classified this addiction as a disorder that affects mental health for children and adolescents.
He reviewed the most important damage associated with the excessive use of electronic games, including the psychological risks of anxiety, depression, social isolation, sleep disturbances in addition to health risks that are eye stress, back pain, and obesity due to lack of movement in addition to harmful content where some games are on Articles inciting children to harm themselves or suicide, which requires strict family control.
He touched on the security aspects of cyber addiction, warning against the terrorist groups’ exploitation of electronic games as a means of recruiting and luring children through the talks inside the games, spreading extremist ideas and psychological manipulation, which exposes them to serious risks.
Dr. Al -Kuwaiti stressed the importance of the family’s role in protecting children from the risks of cybersecurity through several strategies, including implanting religious and cultural values to enhance awareness of the safe use of the Internet, in addition to setting clear home laws that define play times and encourage alternative activities such as sports and reading, in addition to monitoring games and content Electronic to ensure its suitability for the targeted age group, as well as enhancing family dialogue and encouraging children to share their digital experiences.
The session witnessed a wide interaction from the attendees, as the participants raised questions about the effect of cyber addiction and cyber threats in light of the global digital transformations.
His Excellency Dr. Al -Kuwaiti answered all inquiries, stressing the importance of societal solidarity to protect future generations from cyber risks.
This session reflects the UAE’s commitment to enhancing awareness of cybersecurity and preparing society to face modern digital challenges, in line with its vision in building a smart government and a safe and sustainable digital society.
