المملكة: Strategic partnerships are an essential pillar for achieving sustainable development

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Water, Dr. Abdulaziz Al -Shaibani, stressed that strategic partnerships are a basic pillar to achieve sustainable development, noting that the water sector in the Kingdom is witnessing a qualitative transformation based on integration between different parties to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
This came during his participation in the dialogue session titled “The Partnerships Power: Launching the Possibilities for Sustainable Development” at the “WIX” World Conference in Spain, with the participation of a number of specialists in the water sector in the Kingdom and the Saudi Fund for Development.
He explained that the Saudi Vision 2030 focused on the importance of partnerships with the public and private sectors to advance the wheel of development, citing the establishment of the Saudi Center for International Strategic partnerships in 2017 to coordinate national efforts and enhance effective partnerships.

Quality achievements

Dr. Al -Shaibani pointed out that the water sector in the Kingdom adopted the concept of “policy -based partnership”, as the National Water Strategy in 2016 launched close cooperation between government agencies, experts, and universities, which contributed to enhancing the sector’s efficiency and achieving qualitative achievements, and making it a model for integrated management For water resources.

On the international level, Al -Shaibani stressed that the Kingdom, out of its global responsibility, seeks to provide international platforms to enhance cooperation in water issues, explaining that the scarcity or pollution of water in any region may lead to global economic repercussions.
He pointed out that the Kingdom has led several initiatives to enhance international cooperation in this field, with a focus on innovative financing and sustainable investment in water infrastructure.
Speaking of future opportunities in the sector, Al -Shaibani stressed the importance of seizing profitable opportunities for all, and developing new economic models that support partnerships between different sectors, citing the “Saqiya” initiative launched by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, which reflects a sustainable concept to provide water through partnerships with the sector other than The profit, noting that these initiatives reflect the pioneering role of the Kingdom in adopting innovative solutions to face water challenges globally.
He referred to the role of the Saudi Fund for Development in supporting development projects globally, as it has so far provided about (6) billion dollars to enhance infrastructure and achieve sustainable development in various countries, pointing out that the success of any partnership requires clear goals, specific outputs, and a schedule that invests the opportunities available To achieve a concrete and sustainable impact.
Al -Shaibani concluded his speech by emphasizing that achieving sustainable development requires partnerships based on clear goals, specific outputs, and a common language between the various sectors to ensure a tangible and sustainable impact.
