Abu Dhabi, February 21/ WAM/ The General Authority for Pension and Social Insurance confirmed that the registration of their insured represents the first step to obtain insurance benefits guaranteed by the law as an acquired right, along with other government support, including support for the “Nafs” program.
The authority stressed the importance of registration and the establishment of an account in the digital “pension” platform, which provides easy access to all services using digital identity.
This comes within the framework of the authority’s efforts to spread awareness of the laws of pension and social insurance, and to provide cognitive support to assist employers, their insured, retired and entitled to the completion of their transactions through the “pension” platform, which contributes to promoting compliance and achieving social stability for citizens.
The authority explained that the correct registration and at the time ensures the accuracy of calculating insurance entitlements, facilitates access to services, and provides transparency, clarity and reassurance to employers and employees alike.
She stressed the need to register citizens working in the government and private sectors in accordance with the provisions of Federal Law No. 7 of 1999 for pensions and social insurance and its amendments, and decree Law No. 57 of 2023, where the work authorities are obligated to register the insured within 30 days of joining the work, if they apply to it Conditions of registration.
She explained that the conditions for the inclusion of the insured apply to the Emirati citizen, whose age is not less than (18) years old, and not more than 60 years, provided that he is healthy to work when appointing under a medical report from the medical authority approved by the authority, and these provisions apply Everyone who gets the state’s nationality must at any time.
The commission stressed that the registration of the Gulf citizens working in the state is mandatory in accordance with Cabinet Resolution No. 18 of 2007, which approved the system of “extending insurance protection” for citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries working outside their countries in any of the GCC states, and determined the General Authority for Pension as a party Executive of this system in the state.
She stated that work authorities in the governmental and private sectors must adhere to the provisions of the laws applied by the authority, with the exception of the work authorities in the local and private sectors in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the workplaces in the local sector in the Emirate of Sharjah, and the registration becomes compulsory once the citizen enrolled in one of the bodies subject to the authority’s system.
She explained that the companies whose headquarters are located in one of the emirates of the state are subject to the provisions of the federal laws of pensions, with these provisions extending to their branches in the other Emirates, while the agencies that are headquarters in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, for example, are subject to the laws of the Abu Dhabi Retirement Fund, with the application of these laws On its branches in the rest of the Emirates.
She pointed out that the free zones and agencies operating in the tourism and hotel sectors that employ citizens are required to verify that they are subject to the provisions of the laws regulating pensions, and if they are employed for an Emirati citizen, his registration with the authority becomes compulsory.
The commission stressed that the responsibility of registering the insured is the responsibility of the employer, but this does not relieve the employee from ensuring that he is registered and paying the due contributions. To ensure the continuity of any government support it gets through various programs and initiatives.
The authority called on all employers and beneficiaries and the concerned authorities to visit the digital “pension” platform to see the details of the registration, mechanisms for compliance with pension laws, and all information related to the insurance systems that the authority is applying in the state.
