Maryam Bin Thanna receives the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Forum for the Mediterranean Parliament and announces the hosting of Abu Dhabi the second session

Rome, February 21/ WAM/ His Excellency Maryam Majid Bin Thaniya, Second Deputy Chairman of the Federal National Council, President of the UAE Parliamentary Division in the Mediterranean Parliament, received the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Women Forum of the White Sea Parliament, at the end of the nineteenth plenary session of the parliament that It was held in the city of Rome, Italy, and announced the hosting of the UAE in the capital, Abu Dhabi, next June, the work of the second session of the Forum Women.
His Excellency Maryam Bin Thania said in a speech to her in the session that this meeting represents the beginning of a new chapter in our march, but it is also a continuation of our joint commitment to enhance the role of women and their empowerment in our societies, based on our firm belief that gender equality is not just a goal, but rather a necessity to achieve peace and prosperity in The Mediterranean and Gulf region.
She pledged to continue building on what was achieved, and to work to face the current challenges that hinder women’s path.

She announced the hosting of the United Arab Emirates, represented by the Federal National Council, the work of the second session of the Parliamentary Women’s Forum for the Mediterranean Parliament in the month of June in the capital, Abu Dhabi, in a move that reflects the UAE’s keenness to support issues of empowering women and enhancing their role in political, economic and social life .

His Excellency Bin Thania presented the initial plan for the 2025-2026 Forum, which focuses on strengthening the role of women in regional security and stability, by integrating the sexual dimension in the national policies to combat terrorism and extremism, believing in the importance of women’s participation in sustainable solutions, especially during humanitarian crises and disasters, and enhancing empowerment Political, social and economic for women, and an increase in their representation in leadership centers, and the economic gap, no Especially in rural areas.
She said that we are setting the combat of gender -based violence and violations targeting women and girls in the forefront of priorities, while enhancing legislation to confront electronic violence, and bias in artificial intelligence techniques, to ensure a safe and supportive digital environment.
She added that within the framework of working in promoting totalitarianism and equality in decision -making within the Parliament of the Mediterranean, and in our endeavor to consolidate the work of the Parliamentary Women Forum, we suggest the inclusion of the president of the Women’s Forum as a permanent member of the Parliament Office, where this proposal aims to ensure the representation of women in an institutional way in the office, Confidence that this proposal will enhance the effectiveness of the office’s work by integrating a more balanced vision in parliamentary decision -making, and will contribute to making Parliament more In response to issues of concern to society as a whole.

The members of the office called for supporting this proposal, in confirmation of commitment to developing the work of Parliament, and making it a leading model in fair and comprehensive parliamentary representation.
