Maryam Bin Thaniyeh said in a speech to her in the session that this meeting represents the beginning of a new chapter in our march, but it is also a continuation of our joint commitment to enhance the role of women and their empowerment in our societies, based on our firm belief that gender equality is not just a goal, but rather a necessity to achieve peace and prosperity in the region The Mediterranean and the Gulf.

The UAE is keen to support women’s empowerment issues

She announced the hosting of the United Arab Emirates, represented by the Federal National Council, the work of the second session of the Parliamentary Women’s Forum for the Mediterranean Parliament in the month of June in the capital, Abu Dhabi, in a move that reflects the UAE’s keenness to support issues of empowering women and enhancing their role in political, economic and social life .

Bin Thaniyeh presented the initial plan for the 2025-2026 forum, which focuses on strengthening the role of women in regional security and stability, by integrating the sexual dimension in national policies to combat terrorism and extremism, believing in the importance of women’s participation in sustainable solutions, especially during humanitarian crises and disasters, and promoting political empowerment The social and economic of women, the increase in their representation in leadership centers, and the economic gap, no Especially in rural areas.

She said that we are setting the combat of gender -based violence and violations targeting women and girls in the forefront of priorities, while enhancing legislation to confront electronic violence, and bias in artificial intelligence techniques, to ensure a safe and supportive digital environment.
