Europe can defend itself in the absence of American support

Europe can take several measures to defend itself in isolation from its dependence on the United States. French President Emmanuel Macron appears to be aware of the challenge facing European leaders in this regard.
After the scathing attack launched by US Vice President JD Vans on Europe last Saturday during the recent Munich Security Conference, the same place in which Russian President Vladimir Putin attacked the Western security system in 2007, Macron called for an emergency summit for European leaders Paris with the aim of coordinating Europe’s response.
Macron understood that this is a moment that requires leaders to make appropriate decisions, not building institutions.
Although European Commission President Ursula von der Line, and the President of the European Council Antonio Costa were at the Paris Summit, as well as the Secretary -General of NATO “NATO” Mark Reta, this was not a founding meeting of the European Union that could be restricted to the right to cassation in the Carmelin from Hungary Slovenia.
But at the same time, there was nothing clear at this summit, as the United Kingdom also attended, as well as Poland, Spain and the Netherlands, in addition to the so -called “the eight northern Baltic countries”, which are the Scandinavian countries, alongside Finland and the Baltic countries that have borders Wild and sea with Russia, which sees the Kremlin’s threat clearly.
The Paris itself came out with incomplete recommendations, as Britain suggested providing peacekeepers to impose a deal that might reach the administration of US President Donald Trump and Russia without European participation, or even Ukrainian.
Trump adventure
Trump’s adventure appears to be an echo of the 1945 Yalta Convention, according to which US President Franklin Roosevelt and Soviet leader Joseph Stalin agreed to the situation of Eastern Europe under the influence of the Soviet Union.
Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni has been hesitant, as it has become a balance between her work – as she is described as a “good European falcon” towards Russia while maintaining good relations with the White House – increasingly fraught with risks.
The besieged German advisor, Olaf Schultz, refused to consider sending forces to Ukraine or more money, and Poland also refused to send troops, especially since West Ukraine is historically sensitive to Warsou.
Each country had its causes to act on its own, so the meeting ended in a collective failure. The United States was the (good) aspect that usually pushes Europeans to make progress in this field, and now Europeans found themselves alone.
The reckless speech and Trump’s plan to the United States abandoned its influence in Europe, which was a reflection of the “Yalta” summit, was a harsh attack on European interests and security.
Europe can respond to these challenges if it mobilizes its will, and moreover, it can respond without direct escalation against the United States.
Adherence to Ukraine
The Trump regime is not considered a synonym for the United States, as Europe must work with Trump’s opponents and maintain relations with rational members of the US Republican Party, such as Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and members of the Republican Party in Congress, where the party has a very small majority.
It seems that the White House itself took a clear blackout, as the so -called “peace negotiations with Russia”, which followed Trump’s demand for 50% of the mineral wealth in Ukraine, constitutes a very bad initiative.
Ukraine will not stop fighting, because the alternative is genocide and deportation by Russia. Worse, if Russia remains in Ukraine, it will extract the resources of this country to rebuild the war machine and recruit its men to be a fuel for the defender for more expansion, as it did during the Soviet era.
Therefore, European countries have no choice but to adhere to Ukraine, even as Russia threatens a general European war.
British Defense Secretary John Haley claimed last Tuesday that the reliable deterrence of Russia requires security guarantees with “support from the United States”, but this American administration is not reliable to the extent that makes them unable to provide such guarantees, and therefore European powers need to be accredited On her own efforts.
Important procedures
To confront such challenges, Europe must take important steps and measures, including the involvement of Ukrainian President Fludimir Zellinski in European summits, such as those held in Paris, as the theater is important in international relations.
Also, all the major countries in the European Union must immediately increase defensive spending to the equivalent of 3% of their gross domestic product, if they have not done so, and make plans to raise it to 5% within the next three years.
To facilitate this task, European countries must establish a government bank to finance re -arms, the idea that British General Nicholas Carter and journalist Ed Lucas, as supported by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorsky.
European countries also have to increase their production of nuclear weapons, as France and Britain have the necessary weapons and technology, but they cannot bear the costs of increasing their arsenal alone, so other major countries must help pay costs.
Strategic weapons
Some efforts should be allocated to France’s strategic weapons in the “Cruise” missile body fired from the air.
Sweden must send to Ukraine all its Graven fighter planes, which number about 100 aircraft, whose maintenance requirements are low compared to the requirements of F-16 aircraft, which make their ability to fight without an ideal air superiority for Ukraine.
The UK must reopen a plant to produce artillery shells on a large scale, as its failure to do so has been since 2022, when the war began, is pure neglect.
Europe must expand the organization of cooperation in the field of joint arms, the group that is the United Kingdom and several countries in the European Union are already members. This would help to unify the purchase of strategic elements that may be expensive so that no country can buy them (such as air defenses, strategic air transport equipment, driving and control technology, etc.), but they are necessary for widespread modern military operations. Emergency planning
Europe must start, if it has not already begun, to plan an emergency to fight without the United States, under a diplomatic pretext represented in the defense of Europe if the United States is busy with a conflict in Asia, and this has effects on the military doctrine, and the use of Air Force against ground force, leadership, control and logistical services, which will need to work on.
. Trump’s plan for America to abandon its influence in Europe is a harsh attack on European interests and security.
