5.4 % Energy demand in Dubai during 2024

Dubai on March 2 / WAM / The energy demand in the Emirate of Dubai increased during the year 2024 by 5.4% compared to 2023, according to a statement of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority today.

His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayer, Managing Director, CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said that the volume of energy demand in 2024 amounted to 59,594 gigawatts an hour compared to 56,516 GB in 2023, indicating that the authority continues to develop a leading infrastructure for electricity and water and raise the capacity of transport and distribution networks to meet the increasing demand for electricity and water, and keep pace with the large growth in the population of Dubai, and expansion The steady that the emirate is witnessing in various economic activities.

His Excellency added that, thanks to the good directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “God bless him”, Dubai has become a global city and a preferred destination for living, work, entrepreneurship and tourism, and the prosperity of the Emirate of Dubai, the Emir, Economic and Demographic Emirate contributes to enhancing the growth of the sustainable body with the increasing demand for electricity and water.

The authority’s production capacity increased to 17.179 GB of electricity, and clean energy constitutes 20% of the total production capacity of energy in the authority, in support of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and the carbon neutrality 2050 aimed at providing 100% of the production capacity in Dubai from clean energy sources by 2050.

It is noteworthy that the atomic demand for energy witnessed a noticeable increase in 2024, reaching 10.76 GB, an increase of 3.4% compared to 2023.
